With Halloween sales jumping 3000% it’s time to spookify your business

Halloween has now taken over Valentine’s Day as the third biggest retail event (after Christmas and Easter) with associated sales jumping a spooktacular 3000% since 2001.

According to This is Money Britons were spending an estimated £300-400m on related items last year. Unsurprisingly supermarkets are dedicating more space to ghoulish-themed items and it’s a trend worth following if you want to take advantage of the Halloween pound.

Dont’ Hide In The Shadows

For many, Halloween shopping has gone beyond costumes and pumpkins as people turn it into a huge weekend-long party – reflecting increased demand for costumes, decorations, alcohol, sweets and basically anything that can loosely be associated with the theme. So do think outside the box – what could your offering be, and how best can you present it?

Adopting a spooky theme or even just going with the orange and black colour scheme can be relatively easy, and need not blow the budget, if you order a few basic display essentials from Morplan and check out some marvellous websites such as Pinterest and Etsy for fabulously creative decorating ideas.

Halloween Window Clings

Perhaps the simplest way of entering into the Halloween spirit (if you will pardon the pun) is to check out Morplan’s range of Halloween window clings. There are 13 different Halloween window clings to choose from so you can make as subtle or as bold a statement as you like – going from scary spiders and webs or creepy ghosts to simple “Happy Halloween” or “Trick or Treat” slogan banners printed in blacks, whites or fluorescent green or orange. These are available for next day delivery and all you need to do is simply peel off the backing sheets and apply to wet glass windows, smoothing down carefully with a squeegee.

Get Arty

It’s also easy to adopt scary signage. It’s the perfect time to rejuvenate a faded blackboard with a fresh lick of super black chalkboard paint. Simply apply with a standard decorating brush or roller- it can be used inside or out on wood, metal or MDF.

Then invest in a liquid chalk pen or two in fiery red, yellow or ghostly white. The chalk pens Morplan offers are water-based, non-toxic and resistant to light rain so can be used indoors or outdoors and easily erased with a damp cloth or glass cleaner. And even though Morplan usually specialise in bulk orders you can buy these liquid chalk pens individually for just a couple of pounds each.

Or why not try using glass marker pens? Of all the colours these come in, the red, white, yellow and black glass marker pens could be ideal for creating a Halloween theme on glass windows, display cabinets and even mirrors.

Go Large

For greater impact, create stunning backdrops with the help of hanging backdrop poles – prices for these start from just £10.99 a pair on the Morplan website and allow you to hang seasonal backdrops, string curtains and posters with ease. Or you can hang decorations in the window using clear sucker hooks and nylon thread.

Why not take your displays up a level? It’s easy to hang signage or lightweight products (tissue paper pumpkins, black or red shredded kraft paper, or even stylish tissue paper pom pom decorations) from the ceiling with the use of ceiling attachment buttons. Simply attach nylon thread to your Halloween creations and suspend them from the ceiling hooks. For ultimate effect why not go large and hang creations from the whole ceiling – it’ll provide maximum impact and atmosphere and needn’t cost much at all if you take advantage of Morplan’s unbeatable wholesale prices.

Fired Up? Lets Get Started…

When it comes to creating stunningly eye-catching shop displays the options are quite literally endless – our tip would be to arm yourself with the basics (you can get a Window dressers starter kit containing all the tools you will need for Just £27.95 from Morplan) then spend a bit of time perusing some inspirational sites such as Pinterest and Etsy to really get your creative juices flowing.
